For military history buffs and model builders, this 1/700 scale Japanese Navy aircraft carrier Kaga is a really interesting project. It reproduces the Kaga with its unique three-stage flight deck configuration from before its major renovation. The top deck was for take-off and landing, the middle deck for small aircraft, and the bottom deck for larger planes - a distinctive design that made this carrier historically significant. The 1/700 scale makes it a good size for display while still having plenty of detail. This is from the Special Series No.86, so it's not your basic model kit - it includes the specific features that made the pre-renovation Kaga unique. The description mentions it's portable, which probably means it's manageable to build and display without taking over your entire space. For model enthusiasts, having accurate historical ships like this is part of the appeal - it's not just about building a model, but about recreating a specific moment in naval history. The quality appears to be good based on the manufacturer's reputation, and the three-stage deck design makes for an interesting building challenge and striking display piece when completed. If you're into WWII naval history or Japanese warships specifically, this model offers something different from the more common aircraft carrier designs. It's one of those specialized model kits that serious collectors appreciate for its historical accuracy and unique features.
