Chess players, listen up! This Catherine wooden chess set is absolutely beautiful and perfect for both casual games and more serious matches. The board is 15 inches square and features stunning inlaid wood squares made from Maple and Walnut lumber sourced right from the USA. The precision cutting gives it such a clean, elegant look that's nice to look at but not overly fancy or distracting during play. Here's a cool feature: the board actually lifts up to reveal storage space inside for all 32 chess pieces - no more lost pieces or separate storage needed! The pieces themselves are made from dark brown and light brown wood, and they're weighted with felt padding on the bottom to protect your board and give them that satisfying, substantial feel when you move them. The king stands 3 inches tall with a 1.25 inch diameter base, while the pawns are 1.5 inches - really nice proportions that feel good in your hand. The whole set weighs about 5.2 pounds, so it has some heft to it that speaks to the quality. Whether you're playing a quick game with family, hosting chess nights with friends, or just want a beautiful set to display, this Catherine chess set delivers. It's made by Best Chess Set, a California company that oversees production in their own quality-controlled factory in China. The retail packaging makes it gift-ready too. If you appreciate quality woodwork and love chess, this set is definitely worth considering - it's the kind of chess set that could become a family heirloom passed down through generations. Seriously classy and built to last!
