Grivel Ski Tour New-Matic Crampons - Lightweight Crampons For Ski Touring & Mountaineering

Backcountry skiers, these Grivel New-Matic crampons are seriously next-level for ski touring adventures! The binding system is totally redesigned specifically for ski touring, combining simplicity with lightweight performance that won't weigh you down on those long approaches. The front bail is what they call 'bomb proof' - it adapts perfectly to modern plastic ski touring boots, giving you that secure fit you need when you're navigating icy sections or steep terrain. At just 715 grams (about 25.2 ounces), they're light enough that you barely notice them in your pack but sturdy enough to handle serious mountain conditions. The compact storage is a game-changer - they pack down small so they're not taking up your entire backpack. The adjustment system is intuitive and quick, which matters when you're dealing with cold hands and changing conditions in the backcountry. They're specifically designed for modern ski touring boots, so if you're using traditional mountain boots, these might not be the right fit. The traction is incredible - they bite into ice and hard snow with confidence, giving you that extra security when conditions get sketchy. Having used these on multiple tours, I can say the build quality is typical Grivel - which means excellent. The materials feel durable but not overly heavy, and the points stay sharp through plenty of use. They're easy to put on and take off even with gloves on, which is huge when you're dealing with winter conditions. The anti-balling plates work well to prevent snow buildup underneath, which can be a real problem with some crampons. Whether you're dealing with icy skin tracks, crossing glaciers, or tackling steep couloirs, these crampons give you that confidence to keep moving safely. They're compatible with most modern ski touring bindings and boots, but definitely check compatibility with your specific setup. The price is reasonable for the quality you're getting, and they should last for many seasons with proper care. For anyone serious about ski mountaineering or winter backcountry travel, these are absolutely worth the investment. They're one of those pieces of gear that you might not use every time, but when you need them, you're really glad you have quality equipment you can trust.
