Model builders, this USS Balao submarine kit from Hobby Boss is seriously impressive! At 1/700 scale, the completed model measures about 5 3/8 inches - perfect for display without taking up too much space. The detail is incredible for this scale, with options for surface or submerged bow planes so you can customize your display. The kit includes a pre-finished plastic stand and full hull design that looks amazing when completed. The decals and color guide make painting straightforward, even if you're relatively new to model building. What's cool is that this was the lead boat in the improved Gato class, so it's a historically significant submarine. The parts fit together well with minimal flash, and the instructions are clear enough for intermediate builders. Whether you're into military history, submarine enthusiasts, or just love detailed scale models, this kit provides hours of enjoyable building. The finished model looks professional and makes a great addition to any collection. Definitely a quality kit that's satisfying to build from start to finish.
