For the serious tree climbers out there, this PETZL Treesbee friction saver is an absolute game-changer for both recreational and professional use. What it does is protect the tree bark from rope damage while also making your rope glide smoothly through the anchor point - which means less wear on your expensive climbing ropes and happier, healthier trees. The design is brilliant - you can install it and retrieve it entirely from the ground, which is so much safer than having to climb up to set up your system. It features a strap with two different sized rings: a large ring (46mm interior/70mm exterior) for your main rope to run through, and a smaller ring (28mm interior/52mm exterior) specifically designed for ropes with spliced terminations - the splice passes through this smaller ring perfectly. The construction is typical PETZL quality - durable, well-engineered, and built to withstand regular use in tough conditions. I've used this for both recreational tree climbing and professional arborist work, and it significantly reduces rope wear while making ascents and descents much smoother. The setup is intuitive once you get the hang of it, and being able to retrieve it from the ground means you're not leaving gear in the tree or risking additional climbs. If you're into tree climbing whether for fun or work, this friction saver is one of those pieces of gear you didn't know you needed but won't want to climb without once you've tried it. It's made my climbing sessions more efficient, safer, and better for the trees I'm working with. Definitely worth the investment for anyone serious about tree climbing.
