RoyalChessMall Romanian Hungarian Chess Pieces - 3.8 Inch Weighted Red Stained Boxwood Set

Chess enthusiasts, this Romanian Hungarian chess set from RoyalChessMall is absolutely stunning and offers a refreshing alternative to the standard Staunton design! The pieces have this unique, elegant profile that's extremely popular in tournaments throughout Romania and Hungary, with distinctive carvings that make each piece a work of art. The combination of red stained boxwood for the dark pieces and natural boxwood for the light pieces creates beautiful contrast on the board. At 3.8 inches for the king height, these are substantial pieces that feel great in your hand, with the total set weighing 2.54 pounds (1150 grams) thanks to the weighted bases that provide excellent stability. The knight design is particularly impressive - the widened base and uniquely carved mane make it easy to grip and move, while the overall sturdy construction is perfect for both blitz games and longer classical matches. I've been using this set for club play, and the quality is immediately apparent - the wood has a beautiful finish, the details are crisp, and the weighting makes each piece feel substantial and satisfying to move. The recommended square size of 1.96 to 2.36 inches (50-55mm) works with most standard tournament boards. If you're looking to upgrade from basic plastic pieces or just want a beautiful set with unique European character, these Romanian Hungarian pieces deliver both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality. They're the kind of chess set that makes every game feel more special and professional, and the quality suggests they'll be enjoyed for generations. The craftsmanship is evident in every piece, from the detailed king's crown to the stable pawn bases, making this a set that serious chess players will truly appreciate and enjoy using regularly.
