Okay chess lovers, this RoyalChessMall Dubrovnik set is seriously impressive - it's like holding a piece of chess history in your hands! This is the 1970s version that improved on the famous 1950s design, with chunkier bases and better-shaped knights that are just perfect for actual gameplay. The pieces are made from beautiful rosewood and boxwood, and they're double-weighted so they feel substantial and won't tip over easily. The king stands at 3.8 inches tall with a 1.7-inch base, and the pawn is 2 inches tall - these measurements matter because they tell you this is a proper tournament-quality set. What I love is how heavy these feel - at 3.4 pounds total, they've got that satisfying weight that serious players appreciate. The set comes with 34 pieces, including two extra queens for pawn promotion, which is such a thoughtful touch. They recommend using these with a board that has 2.16 to 2.36 inch squares, which is pretty standard for tournament play. I've been using mine for a few months now, and the craftsmanship is just outstanding - you can tell this isn't some mass-produced cheap set. The rosewood has this rich, dark color that contrasts beautifully with the light boxwood, and the details on the knights are particularly well-carved. They even include a 3-year replacement warranty, which shows how confident they are in the quality. Whether you're a club player, tournament competitor, or just someone who appreciates fine chess sets, this Dubrovnik reproduction delivers that authentic chess experience that'll make every game feel special. It's one of those sets you'll proudly display and enjoy for years to come.
